“can i tell you something for what it’s worth?

with you heaven is a place on earth.”

- “take you there,” h.e.r.

.... and we have taken each other there. we taught each other how to fly. without wings. without a safety net. without a means to how high we were going or how far the fall was. we found each other in the midst of our hurricanes and we held on. divine distractions. our hearts sealed because of the debris. and the wreckage. and the fragments of open wounds heaving towards us. but, we held on.

after our storms. we were bruised. we existed deep in the broken parts of ourselves but never forced the other to exist beyond those parts. we caressed them. we loved these pieces of one another. we held each other in hope. we lifted each other up in a love we were still figuring our way through. in “you’re not in this alone.” in “i’m here with you.” in “i know it hurts but hold on.” and, we held on.

our love has served as the greatest transformation. the safest space for us to fall into. to come a part in. to crumble in. to piece ourselves back together in. to re-emerge as two whole beings who have survived. our love has served as a home. our sanctuary. we have found refuge in aligning our spirits with one another. in being intentional about our journeys through dismantling our past. learned dysfunction. in being willful about revamping our entire blueprint. in moving into better versions of ourselves. in having one another to remind us that there were better versions of ourselves.

we are love. we are deep. and warm. and genuine. and necessary laughter that bursts from the root of our bellies. we are love. we exist in the interior folds of wanderlust. stitches of our fabric carry our longing. our passion to get lost in the world together because of all we’ll discover. to fill our bodies with exotic cuisine. to fill our beings with timeless memories. we are healed and healing. we are love. dipped in joy. dipped in freedom. dipped in admiration and awe and peace and comfort and worship. we are dipped in love.

and love.
and love.
and so we keep holding on.
